Ergonomics of Your Workstation

For people who spend at least 90% of their work day sitting in their workstation, you better familiarize yourself with the word ERGONOMICS.


Read through this article I found in the net to help set your workstation properly. Some people may think that demanding the correct workstation ergonomics is too much for them "regular employees." NOT TRUE. You have to remember that you spend most of your day in the office, sometimes more than how much you spend at home. You better make sure that you are working in a comfortable and healthy environment... and ergonomics is just the basics.




Just looking at the above photo, I already have 80% wrong in my own desk. I can't do anything about it because well, it was just built wrong, or maybe not wrong but built for a person a foot taller than me. The desk isn't adjustable and the chair is too big for me. In my 1 year in office, I have probably made at least five desk configurations already. In desperate need to find the most comfortable setup for my laptop, phone, etc., but if the furniture doesn't fit you then you can't do much. Not to mention my most hated issue: GLARE. There's just glare in every direction I tried, oh what a headache (literally!).


Workstation ergonomics is just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to go all out, there are a lot more factors affecting your "Indoor Quality." There's air, sanitation, ventilation, temperature, lighting, acoustics, privacy, color, etc. A lot of the most successful companies started with providing the proper work environment to their people. If you are one of them, then you are very lucky.

ay tama. itotally agree. sumsakit na nga rin ang likod ko eh. i need to buy some new work chairs kasi mine are not doing good for my back.
